Victor Hardy Obituary

TRIBUTE

Victor Martel Hardy was born to the union of William and  Inez Hardy on October 26, 1950. He passed on January 1, 2020.  He was one of five siblings, William (Billy), Janice, Lester and Sabra.

Victor’s journey commenced in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Food Maritime Trade High School and received a Bachelor’s degree from the College of New Rochelle. He was working towards his Masters when he took ill.  Victor was employed by the NYC Bureau of Child Support for many years prior to his retirement.

Vic was a bigger than life person with a sensational appetite for food, folks and fun. We will miss his infectious laugh, even when he was aware that the joke was on him.  He loved life and lived it to its fullest for as long as he was able. He’d say,“I'm gonna live until I die”, and he did just that. He enjoyed Jazz.  His favorite artists were Nancy Wilson, Nina Simone and George Duke.

He liked to party and was an excellent dancer.  He had a unique style and was very light on his feet.   He had many friends, and kept in touch with people as far back as childhood.  He had a way of showing up unexpected and would turn any event into a reunion.

He was always the life of the party--making everyone laugh.  Invited or not, he was always welcomed.

Vic was a complicated study.   He was a person who wore a few hats. Although he partied hardy, he spent some time in church and could recite the 91st Psalm from beginning to end. Today, he is in the presence of the Lord.

We will best remember Victor for keeping it real at all times.

Whether laughing with you or cursing at you, it was all good. Take it or leave it.  Most of us chose to “take it” because we knew that it was just Vic being Vic --- REAL, all the time.

Victor leaves to mourn his passing two sisters; Janice and Sabra, four nieces; Teejha, Trina, Sid and Ivory, nephews; Harry and Michael, grandnieces,  grandnephews, and a host of friends.

He will forever be in our hearts.
