Ramon Peña Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce, that after bravely fighting a nine-month battle against many health complications, Ramon W. Pena passed away on January 3, 2020. He was a loving father, grandfather and a generous man to all those he came across.

He leaves behind five children: Estee, Carol, Wency, Isadora and Ethan. Along with four grandchildren: Jency, Kaylin, Isla and Pepito.

Ramon was born September 28, 1960 in Santiago, D.R. to his parents, Persilio and Isidora, and older brother Luis. The Ramon family was everything and had an especially close bond with his mother. Upon her passing, he moved to New York City in 1985, where shortly after, started a family of his own. He was a hard-working, resourceful man who performed many jobs to provide for his family and instilled this value in his children.

When he was not working, he indulged in eating, watching movies, and spending time with his grandchildren making memories. His home was always filled with people. He loved having company over even if he was sleeping in his room. For a man that barely imbibed alcohol, he kept a full bar for his guests and in the summers he would spend every penny he had buying meats and drinks for BBQs in his yard. Everyone was always invited and when the ice cream truck was near, whoever was outside received ice cream from him.

Ramon gave everyone a chance. Many men who first stepped foot in the United States can say that their first job was working for him. He gave them their start, had invested in their success and was like a father figure to many.

Ramon was a decent man, an excellent father, an even better grandfather and a wonderful friend. He will be greatly missed.
